Earlier today some folks who happen to belong to the Orthodox community were arrested on fraud charges, I will reserve my judgment until after the trial, but some folks who associate themselves with the United Monroe Party in Orange County & with the Preserve Ramapo Party in Rockland County were celebrating today painting the entire Orthodox community as scammers based on the alleged actions of a few.
Just to give you an example, William Barker wrote “Seriously, folks... wouldn't this be a GREAT time for the media to investigate and report on EXACTLY HOW MUCH TAXPAYER MONEY each of our U.S. Senators (and Hillary while she was a Senator) steered to KJ, New Square, and Brooklyn's Hasidim community? Same with our present member of Congress and his predecessors! (And so on and so forth down the list of state, county, and local officials. The CONSPIRATORS must be arrested or else nothing will change besides the names of the criminals”.
Most of the comments on that page reflect what Barker wrote.
This was my response to all those “tolerant” folks.

You guys totally need to be investigated!!!
Since one of "yours" got caught leading a Ponzi scheme for years, stealing Billions (With a B) from ordinary people, some of them were left penniless when their total retirement savings were stolen from them in this scheme.
Yep, he is not Hasidic, nor is he orthodox, he does not have side curls, and guess what, he does not live in KJ, Ramapo, Williamsburg or any other Orthodox area for that matter!
His name is Bernie Madoff, and he looks exactly like you guys!
He (on the outside) acts just like you guys, does not dress in black and white, and he "does" smile to you when he sees you in the local Khols, he never parks in the fire lane, and he speaks a perfect English!
So you guys should all be looked at! Painted as criminals! Called scammers! Hell, one of "yours" got caught!

Do I make any sense? Am I fair calling you all criminals based on the fact that someone who looks just like you got caught? Will you agree with me when I call on the FBI to investigate all of you if one of "Yours" got caught?
No! I do not make sense, no I'm not fair, and no I'm not rational!
Because each and every one of you understands that although someone may look like you, share the same religion, attend the same church, even live next to your house, he is a man/women for him/herself who makes his or her own decisions, who chooses to live the life he or she wants, whether for good or worse.
See where I'm coming from?
We as Orthodox Jews may appear the same, act the same, dress the same, live in the same town, but that DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE ARE THE SAME!
Is everyone in our community an angel? NO!
Does everyone in our community follow the law 100%?
NO!
But most of us do! I live up in Ramapo, My dad has worked his way upward and now owns a company employing 150 people, most of them NOT from the orthodox community, & yes some of them from Orange County! Not only has he been paying his share of taxes for years now, but he has given an additional 150 people jobs so they can make a living and pay taxes as well.
The bigger majority of our/my community are law abiding citizens who work very hard to provide for their families, and painting an entire community with one brush is bigotry and is unfair!
Straightaway you can all go on and start saying BUT....
But before you do, Just ask yourself if the people who belong to the catholic faith are responsible for the child abuse that has been committed by some catholic priests, and if you all are responsible for the crimes Bernie committed.
Because if you paint all Hasidim as criminals based on bad deeds of a few, then you all should look at yourselves as criminals based on his or their actions!
