The 'National Follow-Up Committee' wants King Abdullah II to enact reform and reduce his own personal powers.
Scores of protesters gathered in Jordan's capital Amman on Saturday, calling for constitutional reform and the establishment of parliamentary democracy in the country.
Led by members of the "National Follow-Up Committee", a pro-reform coalition including military veterans, leftists and Islamists, the protesters railed against corruption and economic policies that they claim have brought the country's economy to its knees.
Photographs and videos posted on social media showed scores of people gathered for the rally in a public square.

בחודש ספטמבר לפני 48 שנה, תקף חוסיין מלך ירדן את ארגוני הטרור הפלסטינאים שפעלו בירדן, תחת הנהגתו של יאסר עראפת ואיימו בגלוי על שלטונו ושלטון השושלת ההאשמית בראש עמד.
צבא סוריה, נזעק לסייע לארגוני הטרור הקורסים תחת מתקפת צבא ירדן ופלש לצפון ירדן. המלך הירדני, בצר לו, זעק לעזרה. ישראל רכזה כוחות שריון בגולן וחיל האויר ביצע יעפים מעל טורי השריון הסורים הפולשים לירדן. הסורים קפלו את הזנב וברחו, כאשר הירדנים מזנבים בהם.
מאז ועד היום הששולת האשמית המולכת בירדן חייבת את כסאה לישראל.
הסכם השלום המיותר, שחתם רבין עם המלך חוסיין, נתן בידי ירדן טובות הנאה גדולות:
ישראל מספק לה כמיות גדולות של מים.
ישראל משתפת איתה מידע מודיעני החיוני לשרידת המלך.
ישראל מסייעת לצבא הירדני במגוון דרכים ורק לפני כמה שנים מסרה ישראל לירדנים טייסת שלמה של מסוקי קוברה, חינם אין כסף.
וגולת הכותרת, ישראל נתנה לירדן ״מעמד מיוחד״ בהר הבית.
הירדנים מצדם, מונעים חדירות מחבלים בגבול הארוך בינינו.
הירדנים גם הסכימו ״להחכיר״ לנו לנצח שטחים שהוחזקו בידנו עוד מאז מלחמת השחרור, והירדנים טענו לבעלות עליהם, טענה מגוחכת בהתחשב בכך שכל עבר הירדן היה חלק מהבית הלאומי היהודי כפי שהוכרז בועידת ״סאן-רמו״. יתר על כן, נהריים היתה חלק מ״ארץ ישראל״ בזמן המנדט הבריטי ושכן בה מפעל החשמל המפורסם של פנחס רוטנברג. הירנים כבשו את השטח בזמן מלחמת השחרור...
ירדן היא מדינה נחשלת, 80% מעמה מתעבים את המלך, כלכלתה בקרשים והיכולת היחידה של צבאה הוא לשמור על חיי המלך. כל קיומו של המשטר הוא רק בזכות ישראל.
למרות זאת, ואולי בגלל זאת, מלך ירדן אינו פוסק מלתקוף ולהשפיל את ישראל. ועל רקע זה צריך להבין את דרישת ירדן לקבל לבעלותם את נהריים ואלפי דונמים בערבה.
הגיע הזמן להעמיד את מלך רוכבי הגמלים במקומו.
וכשלב ראשון לבטל את המעמד המיוחד שנתנו בהר הבית ולזרוק מהר קודשנו את הוואקף הירדני.

"שר החוץ הירדני אימן א-ספדי, הודיע אתמול כי הממשלה הירדנית קיבלה החלטה שלא לחדש את הנספחים להסכם השלום שנחתם ב-1994 בהתאם לנוסחם ולחוק", סיפר גליק בפתח נאומו.
גליק ציטט את דברי השר הירדני, לפיהם, "המהלך משרת את האינטרסים הירדניים, ואם יהיו לחצים על ירדן המלך יידע להתמודד איתם. פעלנו על פי חוק ויש לנו את הכלים להגן על האינטרסים שלנו".
"אכן לירדן יש חוק ואינטרסים", ציין גליק, את הוסיף "גם מדינת ישראל היא מדינה עצמאית ויש לה חוקים ואינטרסים".

'Israel needs to punish Jordan for nixing agreement'

Researcher Ze'ev Jabotinsky, grandson to the Revisionist movement founder of the same name, has urged Israel to respond resolutely to King Abdullah's plans to discontinue leasing agricultural regions of the Arava and Naharayim to Israel as set out in the appendix to the peace agreement.
In an article published in Israel Hayom, he calls on the Israeli government not to fear taking significant steps against King Abdullah's plans to stop leasing land to Israel.
"With all sympathy for the King's problems, he assumes he has Israel's cooperation with his regime in his pocket in any case, and therefore he can cause harm to its citizens (in this case, the Arava farmers who will be harmed) without a response from Israel.
"The Israeli government now has a choice between an attempt to appease the King at its own expense and a firm response that will only preserve the agreement in its written form."
As for the necessary response to the Jordanians, he writes:
"Jordan now receives much more than Israel agreed upon in the peace agreement. This was done out of a desire to strengthen the relationship, the hopes for which led Rabin to reach a time-limited lease agreement.
"With water, for example, the agreement stipulates Israel will supply Jordan with 50 million cubic meters of water per year, while in practice it supplies almost double each year. The difference could greatly reduce the Sea of Galilee's drying process and the decline of the national water level below all defined red lines. The decline of the level below a dangerous critical threshold can cause erupting saline springs, as only the water pressure corking their mouth prevents their emergence. As soon as the plugs are exhausted, they cannot be returned. The salinity of the Sea of Galilee will be a hydrological disaster for both us and Jordan.
"The government should initiate an examination of the water supply process beyond the post in the peace agreement with Jordan to prevent this hydrological disaster. There is no doubt that such a serious investigation will cool the Jordanian King's enthusiasm to adhere to what was said in the peace agreement alone, while abandoning the hopes on which it was based.
"The dominant paradigm in Israel today is that it is preferable for Hashemite Jordan to rule a dictatorial regime than a regime that represents the public living there. It was this paradigm, not to mention strategic conception, that caused Israel to intervene in Yasser Arafat's coup attempt in September 1970, which saved the life of the Hashemite rulers. It may also be time to check whether this is not a conception that endangers us in the changing Middle East."
