There was not enough evidence to convict at least for the more serious crimes, and proclaiming him guilty on the lesser charge of child endangerment would have been far more reasonable. I therefore see it as validation of my cynicism of the jury system in general.
However, I do feel that our community was done a great service by locking up this guy - due to many more victims that are not willing to testify in court as Rabbi Horowitz and the prosecution claim (outside of court - and YES, I tend to believe that the prosecution doesn't lie on facts).
As to the case itself, how come so many of us were obviously wrong in predicting the outcome of this jury, I've got this to say.
The anticipation of the oilem was for a not guilty verdict, and that is simply because they were so convinced that every "normal" person would see that this kid is a junky! Don't you see that she wasn't willing to wear those socks? And boy, she even had a boyfriend when she was 12!!! Even the goyishe lawyer agrees that she was a junky!
We were (and are still) blind to how the jury views people. We couldn't fathom that when you admit to a jury that you run a non-profit and claim that to have been to help people pay for your great services, and then it's proven that you actually used that for your personal gain, you have actually lost any chance of looking half credible to the layman! We still don't get the significance of a man insinuating - even within a justified context - that a person claiming to be his victim is worth any less than her sister!
And lastly, to those seeing this as a case of had Weberman not been Hassidic he would have not been convicted, I will only quote Oren Yaniv from his twitter feed:
1. DA Kevin O'Donnell said he never saw sex vic x-examined for so long. "Lack of physical evidence was overcome by her compelling testimony."
2. For those claiming #Weberman convicted with 0 evidence: four days of testimony by the victim = evidence. No corroboration needed by law...
3. And there was corroboration: social worker said she identified trauma and victim told her of abuse months b4 the boyfriend's case dropped...
4. Finally: putting Gluck on stand was a colossal mistake by defense IMHO. She opened door to idea that more abused girls may be out there
That's that. I hope this makes it easier for many people here to not have to go searching for info all over the web. Now you can come and destroy me for saying what I truly believe to be the case.
P.S. Sorry for posting in English. I simply cannot write in Yiddish. My vocabulary in Yiddish is pure and difficult to retrieve, although I understand every word. I will therefore respond in English only.

I'm a 33 year old ex hassid, I haven't been back to NY and my family for over 10 years now. The Wbberman case really intrigued me and I hope he will rot in prison really soon.
When I was 10 years old, I was sent to a summer camp where Rabbi Horowitz served as the head counselor. I had a pretty good time, until one day I stayed in my room instead of going to the pool, one of my counselors came into my room, long story short, he started fondling me but it ended there and I promised him not to tell anyone and he promised it won't happen again, unless I liked it. A few hours later, while I was still all confused about what happened, didn't know if I should call my parents, talk to another counselor, my Rabbi or anyone else. But I took the courage and went to my head counselor Rabbi Y Horowitz. I told him my story, and he told me these words "Mach dir nisht meshiga es iz goor nisht geshehn" and later went on to tell me "Ich vil nisht heren derfin nuch a mool". He warned me not to talk to anyone in the world about this!
I didn't, I didn't have the courage again to talk to anyone about it! But that counselor, came back three days later and went on to rape me, I was forced to go meet him in the woods, where he would rape me for an hour, nonstop, about three times a week.

I know that I can't arrest you, nor can I do you any harm. But I know this, doesn't matter if this comment will be allowed on your site, my story and the story of at least three others, (including a hasidic father of nine) will be very well documented and known to all in the next few months.
I don't have the courage and power, yet, to have kids of my own, but for those of you who are lucky enough to have a family, KEEP YOUR KIDS SAFE!
