Two people are dead after a head-on crash near Lodi on Monday evening, according to officials.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. near northbound Interstate 5 and Woodbridge Road. One vehicle reportedly crossed from southbound I-5 into northbound lanes and struck an incoming vehicle head-on.

One vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

Two people are dead and another person reportedly suffered major injuries, according to American Medical Response, who is on scene.

One lane of northbound I-5 is closed in the area. There is no estimated time for re-opening, according to Caltrans.

The identity of the victims has not yet been released.

One reported dead in I-5 crash

One person is dead following a fiery two-car crash on Interstate 5 near Woodbridge Road on Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At 7:01 p.m., a southbound Chevrolet car veered across the median for unknown reasons, according to CHP spokesman James Smith. The Chevrolet then collided with a northbound Nissan sedan before continuing off the right-hand shoulder, where it overturned and caught fire, Smith said.


The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene, Smith said. The driver of the Nissan, along with four passengers, were all transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.


CHP is investigating the accident, and the names of the victims have not been released.
