I think it would be a great idea to start an eshkol to write in English-language. This would be helpful for people like me that are not best in English, to be able to enhance their knowledge and fluency in this language.
As we all know, the best way to learn anything is thru practice. But the problem is that you need someone to correct you, so this where this eshkol is here to help. The participants of this eshkol will be able to post comments about anything, and others who see something that needs correction will be so kind to do it - preferably inline - and help others enhance their English.
The corrections can be in every aspect, such in spelling, grammar, or just to replace a word with a more appropriate one.
Luckily, in our smartphone era, there is almost no need for the first kind of corrections, since everyone can check the spelling on their phones. So the corrections can be on the other two aspects.
I want to BEG ALL PARTICIPANTS, PLEASE write only interesting and meaningful posts, it should be attractive to read. Thank you!

In spite of the fact that your essay in the English language leaves something to be desired. Your Spelling, however, is flawless. You might perhaps have made use of the Spell Check program. But that is to be complimented. It reflects your strong desire to achieve a high standard of expressing yourself in the English language!

Reb Berel, your English is fine, but your grammar is something of a disaster. It is hard for me to quote and correct from my cellphone, but an idea would be to cut and paste your text into MS Word and allow the grammar check to do its job.

The first 2 indicate the grammar , which is translation from Yiddish,

thru - is not so professional , rather use the full spelling - through

I would write: "will be kind to do so" - the word" "it" is childish[/left]

I think that "critics" is the correct word there. "Critique" are the comments and advice that "critics" give.

Reb LFFB. My English Grammar stands approximately 45 degrees higher than your Yiddish syntax. Which, BTW is beyond disastrous.
I could cite examples galore. But I'm not about to offer you lessons in Yiddish Grammar gratis...

I think it would also be a good idea to quote some phrases or sentences and/or paragraphs from published material or articles, like from heimishe journalists etc. And then we'll discuss their grammar & vocabulary.

comments:

1) It would - The word will is used when something is certain as in I will go or it will be great, as opposed to the word would is used with a suggestion such as it would be a good idea.
2) Phrases or sentences – statements does not pair with the word paragraph, it works well with the word group of question, answer etc. which represents the tone or intention of the spoken words. Whereas the words phrases or sentences are consistent with the word paragraph which all represent grammatical terminology.
3) Published material or articles – the word stuff is relevant to physical items and word material is used with publishing or journalism.
4) From and then – Watch the flow. Add the right words to make the reading easier so to let the words flow.

Tip: Besides for spell check it’s very good to use the thesaurus.
